Project goal

The City of Sydney wanted to transform the Woolworths store facade into a festive decoration for the Christmas season. The project was ambitious: creating the largest outdoor Twinkly light wall in the Southern Hemisphere and the second largest in the world.

  • Our approach

To cover the 60-meter-wide and 25-meter-high facade, our installers used 91,500 smart RGB LEDs. Using the Twinkly app, Sydney was able to create the perfect festive decorations in one of the city's busiest areas.

  • Effect

This installation not only set a new record in the Southern Hemisphere but also became the focal point of the city's Christmas decorations, attracting both residents and tourists. Feedback from the City of Sydney and the general public was overwhelmingly positive, cementing our global reputation as leaders in innovative commercial lighting installations.

Technology

Project Specifications

  • Submitting content

Once mapped, impressive video content was uploaded onto the facade and installed using the Twinkly WebApp.

  • Group type

The installation was managed as one large object using the “Join” grouping feature available in the Twinkly app.

  • Mapping type

Due to the impressive size of the facade, Twinkly’s Multi-view mapping was used, which involved scanning sections of the facade step by step to faithfully reproduce the 2D layout.

  • Remote control

Thanks to the cloud connection, the client could manage the display schedule and programs from anywhere, even from another city.
